Description of App

Do you have a SkyBell video doorbell? If yes, download this free app and enjoy the latest innovation in home automation: answering your front door from your favorite iOS® devices.

SkyBell, the smart video doorbell, is a Wi-Fi enabled doorbell with a video camera, microphone, speaker and motion sensor. When a visitor presses the button, SkyBell sends you a live video feed and you can see, hear and speak to the person at your door whether you’re at home, at work or abroad.

SkyBell’s exclusive motion sensor, on-demand access and invisible night vision give you more convenience, control and safety over answering your door.

Features:
- Motion Sensor – Detects visitor even if they don’t press button
- On-Demand Access – Open camera feed from app
- Made in USA
- Multiple users and devices
- Invisible Night Vision
- Receive live feed over Wi-Fi, 3G and 4G LTE
- Direct power – No need to recharge battery
- Operates in extreme cold, rain and heat

*This app works exclusively with and requires the SkyBell smart video doorbell device. You can buy a SkyBell device at www.skybell.com.

Accessibility Comments

All of the controls in this app are fully accessible. As the app places the device into phone profile, voiceover will revert to the lower quality sound you get when using voiceover while on a call. However, it's really good about fixing the audio profile back the way it was when you press the home button or otherwise leave the app.

VoiceOver Performance

VoiceOver reads all page elements.

Button Labeling

All buttons are clearly labeled.

Usability

The app is fully accessible with VoiceOver and is easy to navigate and use.

Other Comments

When you first set up your new skybell, there is a paper with the device code included in the skybell package. You will need a sighted person, or perhaps OCR, to read you this long number, so you can type it into the app. However, this only needs to be done during the first time setup. Once the skybell is paired with your online account, you never need to do this again. I didn't put this under accessibility comments, as the app itself *is* fully accessible. If you are connecting as a second user of a skybell account that has already been set up, you won't need any help at all.

Thanks for this, and would

Thanks for this, and would you say the doorbell itself is worth buying? I heard the audio was laggy and doesn't sound too great.

Ring Is Better

Funny you should post this now. My SkyBell Classic broke two weeks ago, and I replaced it with a Ring Video Doorbell. It's far better. Sounds nicer, the motion detection works better (motion detection on Ring notifies the app, and does not ring your physical doorbell, whereas on SkyBell, motion detection rang the doorbell, so you could never tell the difference between someone ringing the bell and motion outside the door), it works with IFTTT, and the physical unit is nicer. However! While using the app is just as accessible, setup of the Ring Doorbell is not fully accessible. First off, if ring fails to connect to your wifi, the troubleshooting screens are completely and totally inaccessible to you. Second off, when setting up motion detection with the Ring Doorbell, you are offered 6 "zones" that you can activate or deactivate motion detection for. These zones are shown in a picture, but neither within the app, nor anywhere on the Ring website, are these zones described in a textual format. However, assuming you don't need to do any troubleshooting, and have someone to help you set up motion detection, the rest of the Ring app works fine.

Thanks for this info.

We are thinking of a new door bell, and were thinking about this one as well as the Ring.
