Uber, Center Map pin, accessibility

Hi all. I need to figure out something. I used Uber putting my address in as 123 Joe Dr. Obviously this isn't my address. But because it's a condo complex, and I was outside waiting, the person I was with was able to hail the driver. Now, I was told my pin was somewhere different then I. Keep in mind I was the only one waiting so I'm thinking they go by what their phone says, not visually, oh let's get that woman standing there. Now my question: How if I can, do I use the Center Map pin? I'd like to so someone can spot me if i'm alone. Hope someone comments, as my posts seem to be ignored lately.

Center map and addresses.

When you press the Center Map button, the pickup location is changed to the GPS location of your phone at the time you pressed the button. In many, but not all cases, the pickup address will change to match the newly selected GPS location.

The driver receives both the pickup address and their map is changed to show the pin at the pickup location. As we know, these don't always match exactly, but, sadly, it seems most drivers only rely on the map pin instead of the actual address text.

The only real solution is to communicate with the Uber driver once the "arriving now" notification has been received.

The same issue is with Lyft

The same issue is with Lyft as well. I had a driver that told me that he saw my address but the pin had me further up the street than my actual address.

I don't have any advice on moving the pin, however ...

When I receive the message that the Uber driver is approaching, I go in front of my location, and hold up my phone. This seems to be a universal sign that you're looking for a Uber driver.

I'll try moving the map pin too

Thanks, I'll try the phone thing. I just don't want to be screwing around with texting or a phone call, when the driver should've seen me. I wouldn't be so pissed, if the stupid dude literally went RIGHT BY ME. As in, you had to have seen me. Anyway i'll do that the next time i take Uber. btw, Lyft lets you tip on your CC Uber doesn't have that option but you can tip in cash. I didn't know that until recently. May as well, they deserve something right? :)

I know people that also do

I know people that also do the holding up the phone thing and they say it works for them so I myself will have to try it.

Oh, that's what it is.

Hello,

Oh, that’s what it is. A Uber wave. My 10 year old told me he have seen a few people next to the curb with their phone over their head and waving. I told him maybe they are folks trying to get your attention to buy a phone. LOL

i never knew about that

I have actually set up a keyboard shortcut, what enters immediately information of me being blind, and all I have to do is enter few keywords, where I am standing. For example, my text says: "Hey! Since I am blind, I am waiting for you, holding a white cane. I am at," and from this point I just say "the front of house," or "at the curb," and it has worked 99% of times. Works very well when it is cold outside or you don't want to type out a long text.
I just type "zzu" what is my shortcut for it and it exbands to the text I gave an example of above.

Once the app updates with the request, then go to trip options. There you'll see contract driver. Click, then text or call them. I'll probably be taking Uber later this week so i'll see what holding my phone like a wicked dork does for me. lol.
