occasionally getting message no sim card installed

By Troy, 22 June, 2016

Hello,
IPhone 5s running 9.3.2. Intermittently I'll get a message no sim card installed when in fact there is one installed and my phone still works. I've restored my phone and set it up as a new phone and I notice I still got the message. This has happened twice. Any ideas? The only thing I hadn't tried was taking the card out and putting it back in. To do that do I need to straighten the paper clip or keep it like normal?
Thanks

Yes if you take this inquiry out that will probably fix it and also you need to make the paperclip unfolded where to point part used to get the card i'm sorry I meant unfold the paperclip where you have the pointy and to get in to where the sink artist I meant Sim card I hope this is understandable

Sometimes restarting the phone helps

Hi, Sometimes just restarting the phone helps. I've gotten this message a few times now, and a simple restart does the trick. If a restart does not help, then you will need to reseet the card, To do this unfold part of a papperclip so you have a bit of wire sticking out. The sim car try is on the right side of your phone. If you put your phone with the screen facing away from you, with the ear peace to the right, you will find a hole on the edge of your phone. This is where you will put the paperclip wire. Just push gently but fermly into the hole. After a bit of a push, you would feel the sim tray pop out to the right of the hole. Its best that you're not resting a lot of weight with your hand as you do this because you may block the tray from coming out.
Hope this helps and that it makes sence.

I had the same problem a while ago. Just take the Sim card out, and put it back in. You should be fine after that. Hope this helps.

The hole is near the right side of the phone, nearly the edge, close to the lock button.

Hello,

If you encounter the same problem after you reseat the SIM card, the SIM card is going bad. Go to your cellular provider, let them know and they will replace the card.

HTH and Good luck.

Could this be a bug with ios 9? I mean, I got the message as well, and after removing the sim card, and placing it back, I havn't gotten the message again.

Not software related.

Hello,

This is not a software issue. The reason this error occurs because the OS is unable to communicate with the SIM card. If your device is under warranty and you take it to an Apple store, they would simply swap out the SIM card. After the swap, if you still have issues, they will replace the device. This happened to me on my iPad.

HTH and good luck.

Thanks for all the help. I can't seem to get the sim card out myself so I think I will just take it to my provider and have them do it before I break my phone lol.

It actually is a sofftware bug in ios 9, I've had the same message a couple of times as well, the best thing to do is purchase a sim tray on amazon, you can get one for $5 instead of the paperclip idea or if you have a thumb tack lying around that works best, but when you put the sim card back in the phone, make sure it's firmly in place, so it will read it properly, once the sim card is in, restart the phone by holding the power button and the home button together for 10 seconds, then let go of the home button and continue holding the power button for 5 seconds and then let go, it will reset in about 30 seconds. I hope this helps.
