Apple has today released OS X El Capitan 10.11.4, bringing with it a number of bug fixes and under-the-hood improvements.

The main outward-facing changes that we are aware of in OS X 10.11.4 are Live Photos support in Messages; the ability to password protect notes in the Notes app; and an option to import notes from Evernote.

At the time of posting we are only aware of one accessibility-related change in this release. This is a minor improvement to the App Store, where VoiceOver could get caught in what’s been described to us as a “speech loop”. However, with other VoiceOver issues present in the App Store, it’s unclear as to exactly what this specific issue was and to notice any overall improvement in performance in this area of OS X. However, it is also worth noting that we did not identify any new accessibility bugs in this release.

As we always stress, it is impossible for us to test all applications and use cases. So, it is entirely possible that we have overlooked some changes, regressions or improvements. With this in mind, we would greatly appreciate your help in ensuring that the information on this page is as complete and accurate as possible. If you spot any accessibility-related changes in OS X 10.11.4, please do let us know by adding a comment below.

OS X El Capitan 10.11.4 is available via the Updates tab in the Mac App Store.

There is no longer a click sound when navigating web fields.

I can confirm this. I haven't heard any of the clicks either, although they didn't really bother me.

Before the up grade vo didn't turn on the log in screen. Now it does at a slow rate of speech. I was also shocked to find out that I now have to type in my user name. I could have changed security without being aware of the change. Also I seam to have the clicks changing web pages.

Hello, I can convert this as well. Although, Voiceover would speak to me before I did the upgrade just fine. Do you have Fial Vault on? If so, this is wy it's speaking so slow. You hear it so slow as far as I am aware, for ease of understanding speech I think. I was surprised by this too.

I don't use file vault, so it may be different when using that feature.

For me, the voice at the login screen is configured separately from the one that is used when I am logged in, though this may be due to the fact that there is more than one account on my system. In any event, I can make changes to the login voice using the speech rotor, VO + Command + arrow keys, and this change happens independently of the voice settings that are active while I am logged in.

This may not work if using file vault, though.
