trouble pulling up the app switcher on my 5s

Hi All,

I'm not sure if this is the correct forum to post this question, but for the past 2 days I've been having trouble getting the app switcher on my iPhone 5s to come up when I tap my home button twice. Is there a different way to pull it up?

The phone did fall off of my pants pocket onto a cement parking lot as I was getting out of the car this past Saturday, but this problem didn't start until Sunday and there are no other problems so I don't think the fall caused any damage. It did pop the belt clip off but that was all.

Thanks in advance for any solutions to this problem, btw pressing the home button still gets me out of the app I'm using at the time, and I have most of my apps sorted into folders and the home button also closes the folder so it seems like bringing up the app switcher is the only problem.

Is the home button working?

Is the home button working for everything else, such as getting to the home screen, activating Siri, and so on?

If so, you can try changing the double-click speed. Go to Settings, then General, then Accessibility, then Home button. Change the speed to something slower than it is currently set to, and see if that solves your problem.

If the home button is not working for other things, then you will need to get the button repaired at an Apple Store. Sometimes dropping a device will not immediately show any problems, but a problem may arise some time later. For example, the connection from the home button to the internal circuitry may have gotten loose, but it was still attached right after you dropped it, only to come apart later as you were moving about.

Wow there's 2 Troys' on here, this could be confusing lol.
Anyways I notice on my 5s as well sometimes if I bring up the app switcher I too have issues bringing it up with the home button. It doesn't seem to happen every time though.

I noticed after I joined

I noticed after I joined the site that there was already a member named Troy, and I was surprised that I was allowed to use that name but if somebody can tell me how to change my user name I'd be willing to do that so there won't be any confusion who's posting.

Btw as far as my app switcher problem, a buddy of mine told me that once I close the app if I flick to the right a couple of times before trying to pull up the app switcher that that may work because he has to do that sometimes, and it doesn't work right every time but I have found it works the majority of the time.

Has anyone of you

Has anyone of you been eating and using your phone at the exact same time?
This might effect how the home button acts, because all the crums and stuff has crowded around your home button. Then what happens is if you keep pressing the Home button, it will be crunchy, and it will eventually stick. To clean your home button, get some alcohol and wipe it off. 91% alcohol usually helps.
You can also take a can filled with compressed air and blow it in to the charger port, making the home button pop back up.
But if this isn't the case, there may be something wrong with the circuitry inside, and must be repaired.
