Sound issue with the music app?

By Hubert, 30 November, 2015

iOS and iPadOS

Hi, I recently found something that I wanted to see if anyone has noticed.
When playing music at a loud volume using the music app, the sound tends to be quite distorted. However, when playing music at the same volume level using another app, this issue doesn't seem to happen.
So far I noticed this issue on an iPhone 6 and 6s.
I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this problem?
Cheers, Hubert

I have an iPad Mini that does the same thing.
If you want to fix this you will need to change your Equalizer (EQ) Settings:
Settings > Music > EQ. In here you can change the EQ of the music. Like make it bass boosted, loudness, and all of that.

Hi,
Cheers for your comment. What settings would you advise to change? At this point, all the settings are turned off, and or set to default.
Also, I'm not sure if that is the issue, as it only seems to happen on certain devices, and on other devices it does not happen, even though the settings for the music app are the same. It's something strange I've noticed and been testing things out in regards to that issue for over a day now, but still haven't managed to find how to fix it or to pin point what's causing it.

Could be that the sound check option is not enabled.

First, in reply to the headphones question, this issue only happens when the builtin speaker on the device is used.
As for the Sound Check option, what does it exactly do? It's turned off on my phone, and it was on my older devices, on which the issue wasn't present, however it seems to be having an effect on the 6 and above devices. SO far, I heard from 2 other people apart from myself that have experienced this issue.

Water in the speaker

It might be water in the speaker. I once dropped my iPad in the bathroom and when I took it out, the speaker sounded all weird. When the water dried up, the speaker went back to normal, could be that. Or if your speaker is busted or something.
