has anyone ever used Bread Crumbs?

Has anyone ever used bread crumbs? I heard it's an app where you can put bread crumbs where you need to go and it alerts you how far you are, or how to get back to that spot? I need something for locating bus stops and things similar that won't show up on any of the GPS apps.

bread crumbs

I'm a beta tester with bread crumbs. From what I find with what I do as a college student sendero gps works well for me. I'm always concerned about saving as much battery as I can. I also use my iPhone as a phone and I keep in contact with people all the time whether it's through email, twitter, messaging, or calling. So, I see no need for any GPS apps at this point in time. I use bread crumbs to test new versions but my main GPS unit and note taking device for school is my braille note apex.

tell me more about it.

Bread crumbs is accessible with VO, the app allows you to drop virtual breadcrumbs along a route and then find your way back from the breadcrumbs you dropped. That's all I can tell you at this point. :) Aaron

The app is made by Looktel, the same company who produced Money Reader and Organizer. The app's not out yet, but you can read all about it here: http://www.looktel.com/breadcrumbs

that's pretty much the same thing in the description

Do you have to have another GPS app on your phone for Bread Crumbs to work?

You could use the LookTel Breadcrumbs app for this purpose, which is route based. But you could also use Ariadne GPS for this, which will alert you to any poi in the vicinity that you have saved in Ariadne, and it is not route based, so it will alert you of whatever point is nearest to where you are, whereas Breadcrumbs would alert you of the next point in the route you have saved, or you would have to set LookTel Breadcrumbs to the point you want to be alerted of. You can read all about it in the online documentation at www.looktel.com/breadcrumbs, or wait till it's out. Using it makes things easier to understand than reading descriptions or documentation. ;-)

'Hi, I guess we are all waiting for it to come out any day soon. :-) Last thing I heard was it is currently in review by Apple. LookTel have already put a podcast online describing how Breadcrumbs GPS works, it can be found at he link I provided in my other post. Sandra

One of the unique features to Breadcrumbs, as I understand it, is the ability to move your phone around to figure out what direction the breadcrumb you have it set to track is located. When your phone is pointed in the right direction, the phone will vibrate. I don't think any other apps have that capability. I am sure it's ok to talk about this, since Looktel had someone at the NFB convention demoing it. You do not need any other GPS apps on your phone to run Breadcrumbs as far as I know, just have location services turned on. Although, depending on what info you wanted while traveling, you may want to have another program running for other info such as intersections , street crossings, etc. It really depends on what you're trying to accomplish on what would be the best solution for you.
