Accessible iPad Apps for Young Children?
I will soon be giving a presentation about the accessibility features of the iPad, and how the device can best be used by young children (roughly under the age of 5) with visual impairments.
While I feel I am quite versed in the use of VoiceOver, one area I am not too sure about is the accessibility of third-party early childhood apps. I know there is no shortage of apps available for this age group...but I am less sure as to what is accessible, what isn't, etc.
So, my question is...does anyone know of any apps for young children...again for about age 5 and below...that are accessible with VoiceOver? On a related note, are there any specific apps which are particularly good for young children with low vision?
Thank you for any recommendations.
I have a friend who has a little girl who uses VoiceOver on her iPad sometimes. What's your deadline? I ask because it might take me awhile to track her down.
Thank you for your response.
My presentation is in early June, but ideally I'd like to get this part of it figured out ASAP.
I knew going into this that finding accessible apps for younger children would be difficult, so I'll make the best of what I have.
Hi Lad, I am looking for this same information. Have you had any luck since posting? If you have any information to share that would be awesome. I am concerned with the most commonly used/favorite by B/VI children.
