VoiceOver not announcing on/off

By Alana, 11 April, 2015

iOS and iPadOS

I have noticed since installing iOS 8.3 that voiceOver does not announce on/off labels. For example, it does not say "Share my location, on or off," in iCloud. This is frustrating as I need to know whether something is on or off. This applies elsewhere as well.

On/off

Have you tried restarting Voiceover or rebooting the device? This has been an issue for me since iOS 8 first came out, but a reboot seems to bring everything back to normal.

I don't think is a bug. Because voiceover does announce my share location on/off and I use iPhone 6 with ios 8.3.

I had this bug when ios8.0 first came out, what I had to do is reset the phone settings/general/reset all settings, reset all settings will not delete any data.

Fixed for now

A reboot fixed the problem. Hope it continues to be fixed. If not, I will try a reset.
Thanks to everyone for your replies.

I just flick by word and it reads that way I reported this to apple in ios 8.1 when it came out but they have not fixed it as of yet.

Take care to all.

Reboot

If the problem does come back (and it might), just reboot again and it should go back to the way it's supposed to. A reset works too, but it's a more drastic solution that a reboot accomplishes in the same way.

if you have on/off labels turned on

If you have on/off labels turned on voiceover does not announce the switches for some reason. To check it, go to Settings>General>Accessibility>On/off labels, and set it to off and restart voiceover.
