Lost Cities: The Music; Yay or Nay? VoiceOver users don't have a choice

iOS and iPadOS Gaming

Hello everyone,
I may be one in the minority here, but with the Lost Cities excelent soundtrack, I'm surprised people don't say anything about this. And if you were one of those VoiceOver users who got LC after this change was implemented, let me enlighten you. Open up Lost Cities and turn off VoiceOver. Pretty epic music for a card game, huh?
I can understand the reasoning behind why the developers disabled music when VoiceOver was on. On iOS 6, there was a problem with audio ducking that started happening with iOS 7.1 oe so, so the devs decided to disable VoiceOver until this critical audio ducking bug is fixed. It has been fixed, and if you want you could turn it off now in iOS 8.
Even so, you can turn down the music in options. I think since i'm the only one asking for it, the devs just thought it wasn't necessary to re-enable music with VoiceOver on since that's how "most" blind people play, with music off. Well, I'd still like a choice in the matter, because audio ducking works better with headsets/earbuds and I usually play games at night. Yes, you could just buy the soundtrack on iTunes and listen to it and get your LC music fix,but that's not the point. Sighted users can hear it in-game, so we should have the option to as well.
What do you guys think? For those of you who don't like music, turn it off in options. But for those of us, and I hope it's more than just me, who like to play with the music on in most cases, we'll keep it on. Now that I've heard the music, the emertion is taken out of the game when I turn VO on and it's just off, with the volume at 100 in options and the only way to play with the music on is to have VoiceOver off.
Think of it this way. Celtic Tribes and Lords & Knights didn't do this, so this game is, IMO, no exception.

i couldn't agree more. and i know i'm not the only one. I have seen tons of tweets regarding this subject. I love the music, and I would love to be able to hear it as i play. it actually helps me imagine the game more and get into the back story. I hope the devs fix it soon.

Well I'll be go to hell. I just tried this and it does indeed work. The music is awesome, but we can't play with it turned on. Speaking of which I guess I'm totally behind, I didn't even know there was a back story, where do you guys find out about all this? Some links would be helpful.

A new update to Lost Cities was released this morning that finally allows the music to play with Voiceover enabled. Unfortunately, it's not perfect. Instead of ducking the music while VO is speaking, it gets cut off, then comes back on when speech stops. It even happens when you're using the talking tutorial, in that the music fades out while Miss Lindenbrock is speaking. Let's hope they can fix this in a future update.

How do I turn the Music down? I can't see it in options when Voiceover is on. I don't want the Music in background when I have Voiceover.

You can't shut it off according to some posts I'm seeing on the twitterverse.

I definitely think they should have a setting that allows people to adjust the volume of the music. See, they aren't testing this using VoiceOver so they're not realizing what a pain it can be. I mean, I believe those who want the music should be able to have it, but when you use speech on top of it, being able to adjust the volume of both things is a nice feature to have. I guess when we requested to hear the music, we forgot to also ask for a setting to control the volume of it too.

They have before. Many of the devs I am in contact with like the way I do this so I'll continue to do so.
