Would be useful to have others confirm this, but voiceover to me sounds normal again?

Either it sounds better with each release or we're all just experiencing some sort of placebo effect. In all seriousness though since beta 5 it sounds much better and fuller than before, I don't mind the lack of bass anyway.

I'll install the next public beta once it's out, but curious if Siri voices have been fixed. When I set my VoiceOver voice to Siri voice 4, for example, even at 75 percent, I find it very slow and have to crank it up to 100. I tried switching it to faster in the voice presets, but I don't like the way it sounds.

As of this update, it sounds to me like it has more bass? I may be wrong, and honestly its been months since I last used 26, so I can't fully remember it haha

A lot of the chopppiness I experienced in previous betas appears to be fixed. as for siri voices, they're still slower than expected.

I'm still not seeing it. I go to software updates and it still says my software is up to date. This happened last week, too. Is it normal for the public beta to not come out at the same time?

Hi Joe, they’re not the same. The developer is for the primary developers to look at and review the public beta usually comes out about a week later maybe a little less.

Is this a bug, or is this just how the Siri voices are working now?

My phone still says my software is up to date. That shouldn't be happening if the beta is out, should it?

Restart the phone and then run update again.

Well After updating to public beta 5, got the message about the update and I flick up to clear the notification did not disappear, it took several seconds. I had to slide all the way left to make it go away. Since this is letter A as apple the RC should be be out next week, Hope it will not take 1 year to fix like VO and notification not reading them. Nuts.

I heard that for users of the iPhone 17 pro and pro max we're getting a significant upgrade to speech to text dictation. Is this true? If it is how is it? I love using whisper for dictation on my pc because it's usually 99 percent accurate and even automatically inserts punctuation where it should be. I'm not sure how it knows where and what punctuation to use but yeah. Is this now the case on iOS? I hated apple's dictation and refused to use it for years because of how bad it was. But if it's actually gotten an upgrade I'd use it. If I really want to dictate a long piece of text I've been using a free app from google called Edge Eloquent that does exactly what whisper does where it'll automatically insert punctuation where it should be but I guess I can get rid of that app. The only bad part about that app is they still don't have a way to assign it to the action button and the app's been out for several months now. Come to think of it I don't even think it's gotten an update. But yeah. I guess I'll quit ranbling.

Yes, sad for those of us who do not have one. Heard is 100 times better than the one we use now.

I can tell you dictation on the 17 Pro is amazing, it still misses the punctuation sometimes, but in 99% of cases it will understand what I want and where I want it. You still have to speak clearly, but the difference is night and day.

Haven’t used it in years, although having one of the later iPhones, I thought I would use it to type this out and see how it goes. I find I type faster, so I don’t really need it, but you never know if it’s better. It could come in useful

Hi all, so I installed the new public beta this morning and when my phone booted back up the side button wouldn't bring up the lock screen when the phone was locked. I'm using an iPhone 17 pro. A restart fixed the issue and it hasn't happened again since, but I figured I'd drop it here in case anyone else experiences it.

Is there anything I have to do to get it to work after updating to iOS 27? Or is it automatic?

In the earlier versions, there used to be a toggle, although that has since gone, so it looks like it’s now just automatic

If everyone could file on this I'd appreciate it. This is a critical bug.

No, no bug with me, 16 pro max and beta public 5. Moved an app and no issues. VO work well for me. Also VO is working well. Just notification and also Siri not sending messages sometimes.

As you know, under recent calls you can choose between all and missed calls in the classic phone app setting. Missed calls shows exactly the same as all calls. I can't make much sense in the feedback app so don' know if my original report had been dealt with, but since I'm still seeing this bug, obviously not.

Hey Jo, I’m having the same experience. Both "reasons" and "missed" show up the same way, but "missed" is supposed to indicate the calls you actually didn't answer. This must be a bug. I don’t usually pay close attention to missed calls myself, but for those who do, it’s probably worth reporting.

As I mentioned in the beta 6 discussion thread, VoiceOver fails to read the full incoming phone number on the call answering screen, only reading the first 7 digits. I suspect this might be a bug specific to users of the Simplified Chinese "Ting-Ting" voice. I don't know why, but the two feedback reports I submitted via Feedback Assistant were both rejected, with the reason being that they couldn't investigate the issue based on the current information. It’s absolutely ridiculous.
