freezing when navigating and typing with Braille Screen Input concerns ios 26

Hello everyone,

is it just my 17 pro, or am I not in the minority?
since ios 26,2 i have noted Braille Screen Input freezes my phone and has to catch up on 2 or 3 words before I can carry on typing, and the focus issue is dreadful now.
I thought it was my screen but it's not damaged or cracked. I changed the wait to tap from 0 ms to 0,10 but am I in the minority camp here? using the phone now just so long i have to swipe and back swipe to focus say, on a text field in Whatsapp and/or the focus gets stuck in say the status bar even though I can flick anywhere, not just in that top strip of the phone, it just seems a mess now. again, sighted people would not put up this behaviour Apple are just about the money now not the consumer.
I would off-topic I know, go to android but even that rediculously slow from what I tried in the past with pixel 9. but to get back on topic, is this focus issue worth reporting, yet again?
I'd understand it maybe en an older phone but not with a 17 pro or higher.

Thank you for any help I use Alex maybe I should ditch that and go for a different voice?

I have noticed this. I'm not sure if it’s app based but at least for me where this is most notisible is on ai apps, i.e, chat gpt etc. Not sure if that has anything to do with it but it’s happening to me as well. Not a major bug but, annoying for sure.

As the subject says, I have a 16 Pro Max. I'm not experiencing these issues. I'm not saying they don't exist, I'm just saying that I'm not seeing these behaviours. I use BSI most of the time, and for me it is very reliable. If anything, I'd have to say it's better than it has ever been. Sometimes I do have to recalibrate the dots, but that is to be expected.

We have to recalibrate dots more often since the first beta of ios 26, before it was so much more stable. I don't know if my issue is the same as yours but there is a subtle change indeed.

I think my friend is seeing this on her 13 mini. So it doesn’t seem to have to do with what kind of phone you have. It’s probably just something weird going on with iOS 26. I have never used BSI myself so I cannot comment on this experience personally. Oh yeah, and into the original poster yeah I would totally ditch Alex. Only because it seems like sometimes the higher quality voices do have issues with focusing things. I’ve noticed that for sure. Sometimes I work around for that is to switch to a standard quality Voice because it doesn’t take as much processing power. I have no idea if this would change anything for your issues or not but I just figured I’d let you know there seems to be less issues with VoiceOver focusing and crashing issues with regular quality voices.

I am using iphone 17ProMax, and this usually happens with whatsapp and other chat apps. BSI literally freezes, and the only way to get it back to working normally again you have to close the app and reopen it.

voiceover focus just dreadful these days though as people have said you have to flick from send buttons back to text areas to tap send again with another flick it rediculous.

Frankly I just avoid these most of the time by after writting in bsi just, 3 finger swipe up; message sent where available.

Thank you for the tip.

I have had issues where the focus doesn't always land in the text field, and BSI thinks I'm looking for links, headings etc.
However, another issue I've been running into has to do with typed characters.
While typing, I've had plenty of instances where even though I'll receive haptic and/or audible feedback for every typed character, they don't all register.
This has lead to my needing to retype words, or my accidentally sending texts with the last word missing.

This has been so bad for me since updating to iOS 26. I will type wholewords that don't get read so I think they weren't typed and I go back to delete and, oh, there it is. It makes typing incredibly tedious. There's also a lot more errors when typing in general, and I know it's not me because this was much less of an issue in iOS 18.

if this were a major issue for sighted users it would have been fixed, sorry but true.

I feel the same, especially with the "do nothing" option for lock screen notifications not behaving correctly, and iPhone mirroring still completely useless.
