It is not possible to speed up the speech synthesizer in Mac OS Tahoe.


Since I installed the stable version of the latest Mac OS system, I can’t speed up the system’s speech synthesizer. I don’t mean the one used by VoiceOver, no. I mean the one used by the system itself. For example, when I want the system to announce the full hour, telling me that the hour has struck. Attempts to change the speed end in failure. The same goes for when I want to play a movie with subtitles in the Movist Pro app. When I try to change the reading speed of the synthesizer reading the subtitles, it’s simply not possible. So, I suspect that the fault clearly lies with Mac OS Tahoe.
Therefore, here’s my question to you: do you also experience this, or is it just me? This is a frustrating bug for me, because I create subtitles for movies and TV series in order to properly understand audio description in different languages. Now, since the speech can’t be sped up, the subtitles don’t keep up with the dialogues. It’s unpleasant to listen to. Or maybe there is some solution to this problem? Hmm, I rather doubt that such a thing exists, but maybe, just maybe.
