Hi,
I was wondering what the best way to back up photos and vids is? I've been transfering all my vids since 2012 and now my iPhone has about 374 gigs worth of pic and vid. I want to get a smaller iPhone because it's more cost effective and know that most of my reason for needing the bigger phone is because everything just transfers and transfers. However i don't know the best thing to get to back up my photos and vid only so that i can still view them. Also i don't know the best way to do it. I have a MacBook air and then just the iPhone 14. I want to get a new iPhone and i know if i do some kind of thumb drive or something then i might not be able to keep using it. The idea is to back up my pic and vid more often so that everything is permanent and stored rather then all on the phone. The best blind compatible way and device would be helpful. TIA, Sarah A.

Photos App and iCloud
One option is to transfer your photos to a Mac using the Photos application built-into macOS, and then backing them up along with everything else using Time Machine. Another option is just paying for an iCloud Plus plan with enough storage to hold all that media, which seems to suit your needs a lot better since you can easily access them on all your devices without needing anything close to that much local storage.
I subscribe to the Family Apple One plan which also contains 200GB of iCloud storage that I barely use for about 16€ per month I think, which in my case compensates a lot because I use Apple Music, Apple TV Plus, iCloud Mail with a custom domain, and iCloud Private Relay, and share most of the services with other family members, so I guess you can get a better iCloud Drive plan for storing photos and videos for a lower or the same price if you only care about iCloud Drive.
