Apple Beta Releases
Your Feedback is Important to Improving Accessibility on Apple platforms
Don't assume that Apple is aware of a bug or that your report won't make a difference - submitting bug reports directly to the company helps them reproduce and resolve the issue faster. Your report may provide crucial information. The more reports they receive, the higher the priority they give to fixing the bug.
If you're using a beta version, use the Feedback Assistant on your device to submit feedback and bug reports. If you're using a public release, follow the instructions on this page.

Followup: USB UVC AV input device support
I just tried connecting a USB UVC camera to my Lightning iPad running the iPadOS 26 beta, using a powered hub that I just bought specifically for this purpose connected to an old Lightning to USB dongle that I've had for many years, and the camera is not being recognized even by apps advertised to work with USB cameras on iPad, so I guess this functionality is simply excluded from Lightning devices. Still wonder whether it would be recognized by a USB-c iPhone running iOS 26 though.
On another note, enabling Developer Mode just got me locked out of my own iPad, because for some reason VoiceOver stopped turning on after the mandatory reboot so I cannot reply to the prompt asking whether I really wish to enable Developer Mode, and the only reason I even know about that prompt is because I thought the iPad was soft-bricked and used Seeing AI on my iPhone to try to understand what's happening, so at the moment I can't even test my own code on iOS 26.
So, does BSI 1-Hand mode work only for inputting letters?
What about controling iPhone? Can we do that 1 handed with BSI?
Yes
Yes
Be very careful when updating.
I know people have said it before but it's happened to me, i've bricked my phone. My cousin is going to help me tomorrow but at the moment I have a phone that has no voiceover on it. Why? Because I decided to plug it into my computer, it didn't get reconised by ITUnes but that's ok, I thought, I'll just do a hard reset and it'll work out, surely voiceover would be on the hard reset screen, right? Apple wouldn't do that, right? Well they have and it's stupid.
Hopefully my phone can get fixed tomorrow but I'd highly recommend staying away from this beta. We aren't sighted, so if voiceover breaks, like its done for me and others, we are screwed, not everyone has a person who's willing to help or who's knolledgeable enough to do so.
Brave people
Good people who are doing the testing. I will wait for public beta for my iPad9. I will wait for the letter A for the iPhone.
Re: Be very careful when updating.
You can always boot into DFU mode, which requires pressing specific combinations of physical buttons at specific times and is a rather model-dependent operation, after which the phone should appear in recovery mode ready to flash with a stable firmware in Finder or iTunes. That's how I downgraded my iPad back to iOS 18.5.
Yeah but in all honesty...
Granted, one can put it in DFU mode, however, if we're being honest? Just like you can put or create a separate APFS on the Mac for beta testing? You should be able to do the same thing on an iPhone or an iPad at this point.
I got an error there was a problem downloading the software.
Fortunetly I was able to restart my Iphone and am now on the beta whether I like it or not, so a warning to those who want to update, it's honestly not worth it for those of us, or at least not worth it for me.
@brad, that iTunes thing…
@brad, that iTunes thing happens with all updates, not just the beta.
The only way I've been able to fix it is by putting my phone into DFU mode and installing it from there.
If you do that, everything gets erased and reinstalled.
This is why I now do my updates over the air.
I thought it was an iTunes thing, but it also happens with the Apple Devices app.
I think an update only installed properly for me with the devices app once.
I don't know what happens, it's like it gets stuck somewhere during the reboot process.
The easiest way to put the phone into DFU mode is when it's plugged into windows, because you can judge when to release the power button when you hear the sound from the PC.
You need to wait for the second chime, not the first, otherwise it won't work.
Thanks but I'll leave it.
I'm not messing with this stuff anymore.
I'm really happy about the new calling settings in the phone ap, i've read that it was on android first, which doesn't surprise me at all, but i'm glad it's here now.
Yeah, don't mess up with this new beta.
A very, very unstable beta in as far as voice over. I no longer am capable of using the Tersa south Afhican voice, especially the ordinary one. I don't like the enhanced tersa and I am now forced to use the South African siri voice 2.
If you've not done this try it.
Delete the voice and then reinstal it.
I had to do the same with the Alex voice.
can't download some voices
On most of the german voices there is no download option, for example it says Anna enhanced, 287 MB, but when clicking on it nothing happens. It doesn't even say download. Any fix? No actions are in the action rotor so can't even 2delete it.
Same issue.
I have the same issue on my iPhone and mac. The Alex voice doesn't say "Download", or Using x amount of MB". It just says, "Alex, 885 MB". This has happened with other voices as well.
Try flicking down anyway.
I think if you switch to another voice like daniel, then go to the alex voice is the choices, then flick up or down you should come across delete, do that, then reinstal the voice and double tap on it once done.
I'd highly recommend writing to [email protected]
I've already done it but the more we send them links, the better for us.
Warning warning warning! to M F I hearing aids users
So, I'm not sure if this depends on the model, or if it's all MFI hearing aids, though I'd assume it doesn't matter.
I just had to downgrade. Thank goodness I know how to do DFU mode, and that I'm super familiar with the restoration procedure! For anyone using MFI hearing aids, not bluetooth, just to be clear, so not something like the Fonix Marble, but specifically MFI enabled hearing aids, at least with my Starkey Livio 1200 aids, even though I have the Thribe app installed as well, under Settings>Accessibility>Hearing Devices, they are no longer detected. And they will not connect no matter what I try. Before anyone says, this is the beta, so it's your fault, let me say, no it isn't! I've done this stuff billions of times. And second, no! I absolutely did not! put it on my primary iPhone device. I know better. I have multiple iPhones one for testing, and one for every-day use. So, not a big deal. Still wanted to strongly warn everyone though. Yes, have filed a feedback bug report.
