Will Jaws/NVDA work with surface pro 12

I’m wondering if the Microsoft surface Pro 12 is compatible with Jaws/NVDA. It’s using an arm processor. And it does have an emulation mode. But I think certain apps and programs might actually be incompatible. I’m gonna probably call freedom scientific on Monday to confirm. But if somebody has any experience with this, I would be happy to hear from you.

Original post had some typos. And then I discovered that I could edit it. so, if you caught the original issues, apologies. Since that point, it has been fixed.

I know for sure NVDA is compatible and works well. I have the Surface Laptop 7 with the Snapdragon X. JAWS should be as well from what I hear, but you'll need a fairly recent version. I believe support was added in 2022 or 2023. I don't use JAWS at all, so I can't comment further. NVDA is mostly running in emulation mode, and I suspect JAWS is as well, though maybe that's only certain processes.

Jaws has a version specifically forearm so make sure that you get that on the download page. I have been using it for over a year on my Microsoft surface book and I actually think it runs better than on X 86. The only thing that I notice is lag when navigating windows system settings for some reason. I also have to restart Jaws a little more often because the virtual buffer gets hung up. But overall Jaws is more responsive so I will take it

Hope this helps!

Thank you for the helpful information. I think I’m getting the surface pro by Tuesday or so. Will get it going. Thankfully, it looks like it’s at least a doable change.
