Having an issue creating a new sheet in ulysses on mac - appears at the top of the group rather than in line... Anyone else?

Hi all!

to try and flush out some issues, I reinstalled mac os. Shock horror, issues remain. Turns out I'm not holding it wrong after all..

Anyway, I use ulysses for composition and noticed that when I create a new sheet when in a group, it appears at the top of the list rather than placing it in line, IE, I select a sheet, hit command N and a new sheet should appear below the one I've selected.

I've checked the sort is on manual. I've tried resetting voiceover to factory settings to see if that was an issue, no luck.

I'm not sure if it is a bug in the latest release of ulysses--it would have downloaded the current version when I reinstalled the os.

In a project of over a hundred sheets, it's getting a little annoying having to cut and paste new sheets into place.

Any help will be be greatly appreciated.

I don’t see the issue you mentioned. The version I’m running is 38.2 on an M1 Mac Mini running macOS 15.5.

How baffling. I'm on the same version as you, M2 MBA though.

I've tried reinstalling it. I tried adding a sheet on IOS and that works as expected. Very odd. I'd rather avoid another full mac OS install.

thank you for letting me know it's not a voiceover and ulysses bug though. I tried turning voiceover off and creating a sheet, with the same result so, fortunately, it seems to be something other than voiceover.

Most vexing though. I'm into the last chapter of my novel and will be on the revision next for which I could do with this functionality.

I'm going to have a poke about for the .p list.

Mine inserts wherever I am in the list, but could it be that you're not interacting with the list? Sorry, didn't try it just now when I was at that computer. I had to set a Ulysses activity set to "Ignore Groups" in order for focus changes to work correctly. E.g., I would hit enter on a sheet and discover when I tried to jump to next heading that focus was still on the sheet list. They reproduced it, but didn't do anything about it in the last update.

Yeah, I found the same issue and did something similar with an activity.

Yeah, I am interacting, or have tried that. It was never needed before though.

It's a really odd issue. I'm trying to think if I've installed anything that could be conflicting, something grabbing the keyboard focus.

You should contact the support. Most times they‘re really helpful and if it is a bug, the give it to the developers.

Defo a bug. I've reinstalled mac OS, ulysses, tried creating documents unlinked from iCloud to rule out an issue with pre-existing configs. It's very frustrating.

I just want to write! I don't want to be messing about with this. Ulysses is problematic, lots of examples of people losing all their work. It's the best we've got though.

I've emailed them a couple of times, hopefully they can come back with a solution.

Had a fiddle with IA writer too, but it's something new to learn and I like the ability to move scenes in ulysses.

I really don't like how such apps are designed to keep you locked in. Getting away from ulysses isn't very easy, they don't make it possible to change projects into file folders on desktop, for example.

I'm just building a shortcut to export my manuscript to desktop at the press of a button, will probably automate it. After trouble shooting this I've become paranoid all my hard work could evaporate.

I even tried word again...

spoiler alert, it's still utter junk. Can't cope with a 65 k document, or voiceover can't, goes super sluggish.
