One I would recommend is proton VPN. It is free, but there’s also a paid option which can block ads and other stuff. if you wish to use a VPN connected to a US server, the free option works well enough. If you for some reason need to change your country, you will have to subscribe to the paid option, which I believe is 10 bucks a month, but don’t quote me on that.
I know nothing about Mac but I use a VPN Chrome extension on my laptop, then disable or delete it when I'm done. if extensions work on it too, mine is
