For those who missed it, like me, shift enter seams to be working on youtube video links again, on firefox and edge.

I reported it and showed the people at google the audiogames post about it and I think it helped.

Googles accessibility stuff with BeMyEyes can be frustrating to deal with but it seams they do seam to listen from time to time, perhaps it depends on who you get? Who knows.

This small change honestly really helps, I guess its one of those, you don't know you'll miss it until it's taken away things.

It opens a videeo in a new window, so you can alt tab to it, you can also use control enter to open the link in the same tab. So you have a choice between alt tabbing to your window, or using control tab to open the link in the same tab.

I’ve always used tabs on Windows because they’re quite efficient to work with. Additionally, NVDA always reads the title of the tab when switching tabs. However, on Mac OS, Windows are more efficient because we can use the window chooser to search between them, and VoiceOver also reads the titles. Just a small piece of information to share! :)

I believe there's an addon that can do that kind of thing. I've not neede it though so can't be sure of that.

I think it might be part of the tonies enhancements addon.

It's interesting how different screen readers handle OS's.

This was driving me crazy, the fact that I couldn't open videos in a new window and still keep browsing the list of videos.
It use to make a mess, when I would pressalt+left arrow to go back from video to video's list, and my focus would be like on top of the screen. With shift enter, your focus stays at the same place in videos list, and your video opens in a new window.
Interestingly, I have gotten in to this habbit with Gmail and Outlook as well. Going back with alt+left arrow or escape seems too unreliable sometimes.

Hello, I have used the control +shift +enter for years and it never stopped working. It opens the link in a new tab and places the tab in the foreground. The video begins playing automagically and you can close with control +W. No need to do a control +tab to switch after the control +enter command, which opens the link in a new tab, but places the tab in the background.
Happy tabbing!

this seems handy, but on my machine, when I close the tab, it's not putting the focus at the same place as before. It does announce the same object, but when I tab or press arrow keys, it places me back to top. For browsing Youtube, I need to be able to hold my place in the videos list while opening videos of interest in new tab/window.
Still, ctrl+shift+enter is something I had heard of, never actively used. Seems useful for opening research articles in new tabs rather than flooding my alt-tab menu with thousands of items.

I use youtube every day to get me through it,, it's not even a, I'm feeling bad kind of thing, it's just something nice to put on in the background.

Now, not only does the time duration not speak when using a screen reader, but you can't even read how long a video is when arrowing down through the info before pressing enter on it.

It's a very very broken platform and google doens't care.

I'm writing back and forth to the disability support but I feel like if I could just speak to someone who used a screen reader, and ya no, did their job, this would be resolved, or at least written down about in a day, instead of this back and forth about browsers, and version numbers and all that crap.

I honestly hate that I have to rely on youtube to get through my day because of how broken it is.

Oh well, there's not much i cna do, and it could be much worse, there could be no youtube at all.

Honestly, they suck. Trying to be polite, they do not have any resources that help a user resolve the challenge, let alone understand it. Unlike Microsoft and LinkedIN support on the Be My Eyes application, who are extremely efficient and indulge with you to solve or at least document the challenge and report it to the right teams. On the other hand if you mailed Google disability through their online form, now that is where they are actually reading and working with you to resolve accessibility issues. Here is the link to the support form for disability users: https://support.google.com/accessibility/contact/contact_google_disability?sjid=12170032017094733002-NC

So how do you use jaws and live chat? Just asking. Sometimes I would like to message and send a live chat comment.
