Description

In the Messages app you have the ability to pin conversations to the top of the list.
One way to do this with VoiceOver is to select the Pin option in the Actions menu.
However, when you do this, nothing happens. The method is not working.

Steps to reproduce

Enable VoiceOver and open the Messages app.
Navigate to any conversation, but do not select it.
Swipe up or down until you reach Pin in the Actions menu.
Double tap to select.
Nothing happens.

Question 1: Will I still have my pinned list?
Question 2: Will I be able to do Long press and then select pin, or is this any and all pin buttons?
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
With iOS 16.1, on my iPhone 13 pro max, I can confirm that this bug exists.
Unpinning works from the context menu as expected, so it’s very strange that pinning doesn’t. This is one I will definitely be reporting.

Hi. Yes, you will still have your pinned list.
Yes, you can still pin messages using the long press to open the pop up context menu instead. That is detailed in the Workarounds section of the bug report above, and is the reason I filed it as minor.
Thanks.

Thank you Dave! I am glad to know that the workaround actually works everytime, because I know the context menu in Messages has always been a little sketchy for me, but this is good. Also because I change my pins a lot, depending on who I message most often.

No problem. However I can’t guarantee it works every time as you put it, as I rarely use the feature, or indeed the Messages app itself. I can say it has worked every time I’ve tested it though.

I've also reported this to apple. I'm getting better at reports. :)
