Hi,

Yes, very much so. I did my master's thesis on this exact subject and got to use ProTools to record and mix a full band. VoiceOver gives access to all parts of the program including edit and mix windows, plug-ins and meters.

It's best to use ProTools with a control surface as this makes moving around much faster than interacting or using the item chooser to find faders and controls.

Here's a great resource from Steve Baskis (Hi Steve!) for anyone looking to start with ProTools. you'll also want to check out FloTools—an external software option that makes navigating the ProTools interface much easier for us VoiceOver users.

Hi what is the control surface?
please explain.
And also is pro tools free or do you have to pay for it?

Hello. A control surface is a hardware device that you can plug into your computer that allows you to control different settings in Protools. I have one, and the model is called the SSl UF8.
Regarding the price for Protools, it is subscription based.

Hi. You can check out ProTools First. This is a free 16 track version of ProTools with some limited functionality in terms of audio plug-ins, etc. More information is here:
