macOS and Mac Apps

Would anyone happen to know on the mac with Big Sur if the Grammarly app is usable? I have it on my iPhone, and though it's a little wonky in a few areas, for the most part, I find it actually works quite well. Would *love!* to be able to use it on my mac.

I haven't tried the app. I occasionally use the web page, and find I need to use my remaining crappy vision along with magnification. I'm not saying it's unusable, just that I don't have the patience.

As an aside, I'm quite shocked at the inaccessibility of writing aids in general. Writing Aid Pro and FinalCut are both completely inaccessible. I contacted their support to describe the issues I encountered. Both admitted their software was not designed for blind users and neither indicated they were remotely interested in addressing the issues. Sad.

Well, I may need to find alternatives. The subscription-based plagiarism checker in the app is just worse than free plagiarism checkers.

Not really

I did have a play and though it is kinda usable, it's not really workable for long documents.

I'd recommend ulysses, it has a pretty good review option, command shift R. It's not perfect, you need to VO J to the review window, burrow down with vo down arrow and get onto the right cell and then go into that and, after that, use the action option, vo command space, but it does a fairly good job at picking out issues including passive voice.

I tend to use a combination of that and Microsoft which is pretty dog shit, but we have to just muddle through I guess. Ulysses does seem promising though and they do seem to be developing so if you give it a go and contact them I think they might action feedback, fingers crossed.
It's pretty

Hi,
I heard about Ulysses awhile ago, thanks to the 9to5Mac daily podcast.
The host, uses it for all his notes.
At one point, Ulysses sponsored the show, so they had an offer where you could get 3 months free, if you chose the "annual" subscription option.
I wanted to check my work using the "text analyzer" feature, of jaws, so exported my work from ulysses to word, and it was perfect!
I'd hily recommend Ulysses, especially, if you're an Apple user exclusively. I've found the best way to contact them, is by tweeting @ulyssesApp
They're super responsive and helpful!
