Description of App

Mp3tag is a powerful and easy-to-use tool to edit metadata of audio files. Musicians, DJs, podcasters, and audio-enthusiasts use it for many different aspects of handling audio files.
It supports batch tag-editing for multiple files at once, covering many audio formats from MP3, over MP4, and M4V (yes, that's video!) to FLAC, OGG, OPUS, AIF, DSF, MPC, and WAV.
Furthermore, it supports online database lookups from Discogs and MusicBrainz, allowing to gather proper tags and download cover art for music libraries.
It offers renaming files based on the tag information, replacing characters or words in tags and filenames, importing tag information, and adjusting the size and image format of embedded cover art.
Since some of the tasks in managing a digital library are repetitive, Mp3tag allows for combining tasks into action groups, which serve as workflows for keeping consistency and order. Examples are formatting tag fields, performing case conversion, removing unwanted fields, or adjusting embedded cover art to match required sizes.

Accessibility Comments

Much like the windows version of this app, the Mac version is built using standard controls. All fields and buttons are clearly labelled and the most important functions can also quickly be accessed using hotkeys.

Usability

The app is fully accessible with VoiceOver and is easy to navigate and use.

Other Comments

Mp3tag was one of those Windows apps that in my opinion didn't really have good equivalents on the Mac, while there are a lot of music tagging apps none of them had the power and simplicity of Mp3tag. I'm really happy to say the Mac version is basically a perfect port, adapted for the Mac user interface conventions. The app is really simple to use, with a table for all of the audio files you're working on, a scroll area with combo text fields to edit the tags for the selected files, and a toolbar with most important functions like saving your changes. So, basic usage can be as simple as loading some files into the table, tabbing through and typing in the tags and hitting command-S to save your changes. However, from the menus you have access to more powerful features, such as pulling in tags from multiple on-line databases, renaming files based on their tags or going the other way and setting tags based on their name, or doing more advanced processing by writing scripting. The interface can also be customized, so if you don't initially see a property that you want to modify often in the fields you can tab to, it can be easily added to the interface.

Unlike the Windows Mp3tag, the Mac version is not free. However, the developer also offers a7-day trial version which can be downloaded from mp3tag.app.

The app for ios with the same name is by a different developer. The app is not as robust as either apps for apple or or windows. However, the ios app is accessible and can edit meta-data tags. The in app purchase for the pro version allows external drives such as dropbox to be accessed.
for those interested in the iOS version here is the App Store link:

I've been wanting this for years! I mean it, ever since 2010 when I got my first mac! wow! I heard about this this morning and just about jumped out of bed. I used to use this on the tffp podcast way back in 2006. I'm glad the developer is taking the time to make the app accessible.
