Only VoiceOver sounds, no speech on bootup

Hi all,

I duel boot my Mac and I've stayed in Windows for... a while.

I'm encountering an issue where when I boot up into macOS with a new USB headset I haven't used with the Mac before, I get only VoiceOver sounds from the internal speakers and no speech.

Is there a workaround for this? I've also forgotten the password for my user, which it says can apparently be reset via Apple ID cridentials, but that appears not to work. I've even changed my Apple ID password just for this specific scenario here.

Any help would be appreciated.

Unfortunately I don't have any experience with USB headsets, but once you're able to reset the password for your macOS user account, it might be helpful to determine whether or not VoiceOver audio comes through the headset once you're passed the login prompt. That information could help narrow down the issue from a tech support perspective. Sorry I'm not of further assistance.
