Hi Everyone,

I was just listening to Tyler demonstrate some of the new features in macOS Big Sur.

I believe he said he couldn't figure out how to remove widgets.
Well, guess what?
I think I have figured it out!

To remove widgets, do the following:
1. press VO O to open the Notification Center.
2. find the widgets area, and interact with it.
3. find the edit button, and press it using VO space
4. Now, find a widget you don't want, and press VO shift M, to bring up your context menu
5. quickly type, "RE" to move focus to the "remove" option, and press return

I hope this helps.
Please let me know if you have any difficulty or questions.

For me, removing widgets works as expected, with the exception of VO-Shift M; I have to move the mouse pointer and Control click the widget to bring up the menu. However, what I cannot figure out is how to add widgets. Have you had any luck with that?

I never used a mac, but after more than 10 years of Windows, I'd be very confused the first weeks.

Hi,
To the people that haven't used macs I can say this... there's a learning curve, like everything else. But if you're willing to use it, and learn the VO commands, then your going to have a good experience if you have an open mind, and are willing to try new things. I can say MacOS 11 big sur is working wonderfully. In my opinion, it's the most stable release of MacOS in a long time. Really, they were all pretty stable, but this one just works very well. No real issues here. As for the recovery mode thing, I've not had a play around with that, so can't report on that. Great podcast Tyler, and look forward to seeing more Big sur stuff in the future!

Tyler, thanks for this walkthrough of some of the new stuff in Big Sur. I'm currently camped out at my parents' place mainly to help a sister with her technology, and we just updated her Mac to Big Sur. I updated mine too, and like it. I have a 13-inch MBA, and notice that the startup sound is a bit different. Yet it seems to be the same on her 11-inch MBA.
