Scanning with my Macbook air Abby Fine reader or with any other?

macOS and Mac Apps

Dear Apple vis members,
I'm Govind from India. I'm using Macbook air 2017 model with the latest Mac os. I also have an HP 126 NW all in one printer. It provides pthe services of printing, scanning and photocopy. I'd like to scan using my mac and the above mentioned printer. Can any one suggest me the way to do so?
I also would like to use fine reader for scanning. How far it is accessible? I couldn't find out some details in the appstore. Do they offer a trial version of the software?
Can the prize be shared with the other members of family group? ? (the prize is INR 8900 Which is slightly higher)
Is any other good and accessible app to replace the Fine reader app?
Please help me with the above questions.
Thanks and regards,
Govind.

Hi, I don't have exact answers for you but am looking for similar info. I do know that on the Abbyy site, you can get a trial of FineReader Pro, at least in the US this is possible. I'm not sure how accessible it is, but I plan to test it soon. Hopefully someone else will chime in, but if not, I can post my findings once I've had a chance to install the FineReader trial.

I've had good success for years using ABBYY on a 2013 MacBook Air. My personal scanning & OCR workflows are in comment 11 of the AppleVis FineReader for Mac app entry found here:.

Regarding family sharing, the US Mac App Store entry says the following: "With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app." Of course, this will vary by country.

Also note that there are free scanning and OCR solutions accessible from the Mac. As long as the device from which you are scanning is supported in macOS, you can use Preview.app to manage the scanning process. If you scan to PDF using Preview, you will wind up with image PDF files which you can then OCR using any of the free OCR solutions, such as Google Drive on the web.

Free OCR solutions?

Hi all,
could someone expand on the free OCR solutions available for the Mac? I need to be able to OCR image pdf files so that the resulting file is quickly available, so I would prefer an app and not a web service. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

Thank you so much. Hope your
