HTML5 media and Safari for Mac Os

macOS and Mac Apps

Hi, folk. Awhile back, I got a weird message in the Amazon prime Video page that indicated HTML5 was more accessible and easier to use than flash, and I could use Google Chrome. I switched to Chrome, but just today I updated it and I broke it somehow, or it broke itself. I've switched back to safari, and I'd like to know if there's a way to force it to play html5 media instead of plug-ins like Silverlight and flash? Ideas? Thanks in advance.

Apparently, html5 can only be streamed in safari on 2011 and later Macs. Mine is older than that. I'm posting this here in case someone else has this question. (or in case I forget. LOL)
