Other Comments

I followed this app from beta when it was a web-based application up to now. I jumped on it when I first heard about it from a post on the AppleVis Forum.

I will stress one thing. It will work differently with different social media platforms. I know that with Twitter you can upload the meme directly from the app to Braigo. I only have experience with Facebook. Here's how to be able to upload memes & photos from Facebook.

1. You can take a screenshot if you have another iOS. device & upload the photo.

2. If you're like me & only have 1 iOS. device, you can swipe until you get to the photo & click on it within the Facebook app.
Then double tap & hold until you hear an tone & VO. will say `Alert save photo.`
You may have other options, but swipe until you hear save. Once you've selected that, wait a few seconds for the photo to download then close it with a 1 finger swipe down & upload it.

Is anyone else having a problem intergrating their Drop Box account with this app? I have reported my problem and I am waiting on a response.

Hello loved ones!

I downloaded this application moments ago and have been trying it out on my phone. I am surprised to read in the app's description as given both in the original appStore post and on this page, to read of the app being accessible or useable with VoiceOver. I'm surprised because all that talk of the app being accessible or designed with the visually impaired in mind seems to be all a myth, if my experience is anything to go by.

Now, my guess is that the app might not be useable at all on some iPhone models, models like mine which is the 4S model, howbeit my 4S runs the latest edition of iOS9.

Please I need some clarification on this. Anybody else using iPhone 4S and has tried the app? Please share your experience.

Here is the error message I receive each time I try to intergrate Drop Box.

This app is unable to link additional users because it has been frozen pending review.

What does this error message mean? How do I try to fix this problem? I have already tried to uninstall all of my apps that were linked to Drop Box with the same error message.

I don't have an iphone, but, I think the app says in compatability that it requires ios9 or ios10 or later. I'm pretty sure it's ios.9.2 but I'm not sure. That'd be something to check on. Hope this helps.

Hth support team at Braigo usually gets back to you within a few days. It took some corrosponding with them to figure out what to do in my case.

I downloaded this app, and it seems pretty useable. It's a pity that Facebook doesn't allow for directly sharing images, because there are a lot of keystrokes involved to save and analyze an image. One keystroke that could be cut out would be if the app remembered your last choice for upload type (i.e. you didn't have to click camera roll each time because it would be highlighted by default). I also think the app should guide blind users in terms of focusing on objects; I take some pretty ridiculously bad pics (i.e. a bunch of pics of my hand holding the phone). and, given that fact, the app should provide a confidence score about how accurate it thinks the description is. I got some great descriptions but also some improbable ones (i.e. a cat wearing a tie, a person sitting on a toilet). But in general, your approach is way better than facebook's automated descriptions. One more thing: in the place where yu upload images from the camera roll, the app should pull the automatically generated descriptions from IOS so that the user can get a sense of what picture he or she is uploading.

Tasha, I agree with you.

You can eliminate the camera robl selecting all together. If you just go past it & select the image you want & then go to the done button.

For example, you go past camera roll button & done & you'll hear something like this. `IMG_0;22.jpg` & select that then go back to the done button hit it & you're done!

I agree that Facebook should allow sharing within the app don't get me wrong. But, in my opinion, you'll get so much more out of social media than ever before.

My family would tag me in a meme or I'd find a meme & I'd always have to say `Mom, what does this say?` I like the descriptions of photos for alternative text or alt-text which is artificial inteligence, there are times thatyou'd just love to have more. I'm kind of spoiled )wink) when it comes to Braigo now. I hope this helps you Tasha & everyone else out there.

It's free after set-up. You can log in with your Facebook or I think your twitter if you have one. But if you choose not to, or you don't have that option, then you'll create a free account.

When I double tap the photo on facebook, the phone freezes entirely. I usually have to do a flick down to get vo back and it puts me on the back button. I'm trying to save the photo on my phone so Braigo can see it. Any ideas?

Submitted by Dawn 👩🏻‍🦯 on Friday, December 2, 2016

Once you double tap on the photo, you open the photo. I'd give it a few seconds, then you put your finger on the photo, hold it until you hear the tone then go to save photo, slect that, then wait then flick down to close the photo. Hope this helps. If it doesn't work the 1st time, try it again I've had this happen a time or two to. Good luck & hope this helps.

Hi Dawn you on IOS 10? I ask because on my iPhone 6S I can't save FB photos either. Same as other people tap photo then I don't get any option to save. I struggle to get back out of the photo to be honest. So I think something is wrong with either FB or IOS10 and voiceover. I don't know of any other way of saving pictures in FB either. Does anyone else?

Submitted by Kerby on Friday, December 2, 2016

I've waited several seconds for VO to say something and nothing. I swipe around after and I get nothing.

I'm running the lateit ios., 10.1.1 on my ipad mini 4. For the most part, I can save photos I'd say about 99.9% of the time. Sometimes I just go back & try & re-save or restart & it works fine. But for the most part, the photos save works great for me! Maybe with ios. 10.2 there will be a fix. You never know. Usually, it's just holding finger down waiting a few 2nds then going through the rest.

The subject says it all.
What kind of descriptions does the app give you? is it similar to taptapsee using a bit of AI/software bits, and a bit of human assistance? or entirely based on either or 1 of them
Say I took a picture of me or me and a friend, what kind of description would I end up with?

Submitted by Dawn 👩🏻‍🦯 on Tuesday, December 6, 2016

I'm not entirely sure, but based on what I've seen so far, I think it's based on both. But I think it's more computer. They haven't released that info. Or if they have, I have not seen it. I have the email address of Braigo.

It may say something on there site, but last I checked, I couldn't find the info.

But let's take your scenario. You took the picture of yourself & a friend & uploaded it. If you looked at it on Faceboo, it may say something like this.
photo imagae may contain: 2 people close-up, people smiling

Braigo is a bit more sophisticated. If your image is umloaded to them, it will say something like this.
This is an image of: 2 people sitting on a couch smiling (for example) If we notice texts in the image then it's below. Then the text would be read to you if applicable.

All I know for certain, is that when a photo is uploaded to the servers at Braigo, it will be described, & the text will be read to you if it's there.

Iorry it's a little lengthy, but I really hope this helps you.

I only wish one thing; that there was an easier way to maybe share the pic to this, as save, exit the app, pull up braigo, and then if I like the pic go back to the app and like it, (I'm speaking of FB here), is cumbersome. That and then I have to remember to go to my camera roll to delete the pics I've saved. All of that said, this is a step in the right direction, and I was pleased to be able to know what two photos were last night that friends posted on facebook, and yes they were the kind that "contain text." Excellent start to a good solution to start making things more accessible online, as it seems the move toward infographics isn't going away any time soon.

I agree with you.

I hated when I came across memes & such & it grossly limited what pages I could like & follow on Facebook. Now, I have a whole knew world opened up to me! I love it! My Mom tagged me in a post on FB. today & it was a meme. It felt good & impowering to be able to go to the meme p read it & like it!

I do have 1 tip for users of this app. You do not have to go to your camera robl to delete your images! You just have to open up your photos app & go from there! And when you select a photo, you do not have to select camera roll! Just go through the images until you find the one you want to read, select it & you're done!

Hope this is helpful for you Mindi as well as to other users.

I'd like to see them try & incorporate GIF.'S, but for now, I'm just happy to read memes!

When I went to the library section of the app I found many many photos and docs uploaded by other users. What about privacy? Are all of the photos and documents I upload to this app become public in this manner? If so, I think users should be coationed before they use it. I assume many of them are not aware of this.
