A Guide For VoiceOver Users on How to Access and Use the App Switcher on an iOS Device
In this podcast, Cherokee Eagle gives us a guide to accessing and using the App Switcher on an iDevice.
To access the App Switcher, you simply press the Home button twice in quick succession.
The first page of the App Switcher shows your most recently opened apps. A 3-fingered swipe to the left will take you back even further in your app history. This provides a quick and easy way to switch between apps. It can also be used to close apps, either to save battery life or to reset an app that has become unresponsive.
The App Switcher also offers quick access to some controls: on the iPhone and iPod Touch, it’ll let you lock your screen orientation, pause/play/go back/skip tracks in whatever app is currently playing music (or immediately jump right to that app). On the iPad, it’ll do all of the above, as well as let you adjust the volume and display brightness.
To access these controls: bring up the App Switcher — but rather than swiping to the left to see more apps, swipe to the right from the first page.
