1. with the app open, find the button that says, voice message. VoiceOver will say, Voice Message, button.
2. Now here's the tricky part and it might be what's messing you up. Double-tap and hold the button and you'll hear a chime sound to indicate that you're recording. So say your thing, and when you're finished, lift up your finger and the message will send. You should hear a tiny popping sound when the message is sent. This indicates that the message actually went through.
