I have ever so little light perception and was, somehow, able to set up face ID. Now, however, I cannot get it to work; my phone still asks for my pass code. Which way should I have the phone facing to make face ID actually work? It seems like you get about half a second or so to make it work and that's it. Any tips or advice is much appreciated.

Face ID
Hold phone in front ofyou. About 11 inches from your face.
Face ID
Hi, Yes, face ID is for some of us not the easy thing to learn that others claim it is, especially
when we're not used to looking into a camera. As well as having the camera facing you, getting the angle right is the part that can take some time to master. Just imagine someone is about to hand you something large, so you stretch out your arms at waist height. That is the angle that works best for me with face ID. Sometimes I find I have to jiggle the phone slightly before it recognizes my face. Having said that, I've had my iPhone 11, my first face ID capable phone, since December and I still rarely succeed to unlock it with face ID when I am lying down. I hope what I've said makes sense somehow, I empathize with your frustration.
Regarding Faice ID
Hi, it's happends to me also, sometimes Face ID doesn't recognize my face. I suggest you to make reset the Face ID, you doo it by going to "Settings", "Face ID&passcode" there you need write your Passcode and on the screen bottom you will find "reset Face ID" button.
