best recording software to use on the Mac

Gerageband is free and accessible. it comes with new macs and for others, you can download it from the mac app store. the other thing that's good about is it's similar to Logic. so once you master GerageBand, Logic would be easier to learn. Audisity was good pre Catalina, but now does not work at all with VoiceOver. you could always downgrade if you really want it though. Logic is $381 Canadian, so not a DAW to get just because their is a learning cerve and it's paid and you are looking for free options. GerageBand will do the trick and some day, if you find it's not meeting your needs, Logic will be suitable as it is accessible. their are lots of downloads for both Logic and GerageBand. loads of effects, patches, and mant more downloads. GerageBand has a subset f what Logic has of the downloads but they should get you started with helping to compose music. There is also Reeper. I don't know anything about it other than their is a tryal ooeriod which is gennerious and a lot of blind people use it.

Reaper isn’t free, but isn’t far from it. There’s a 60 day evaluation period, after which you’ll get an occasional 5 second nag screen on open. No feature restrictions as such and that nag screen will never interrupt you mid- session. The non-commercial license costs $60, each license covers you for two major versions (in time that equates to about 2 and a half years). The accessibility extension is called OSARA, that’s 100% free and always will be. The community support is some of the best I’ve ever seen. Have a poke around on reaperaccessibility.com, in particular the useful resources page. Hope that helps a bit man.

What Scott said is perfect advice. I'd recommend Reper as well. There of course is garage band as well. you should be able to do a search and find plenty of information and tutorials people have made regarding using and recording with garage band. Most powerful software by far is Reper though.

Glad to know about these tools as well as I look to switch back to mac as soon as Stimulous check hits my account.
It's not free, but I used to use Amadeus Pro, and loved it. I do short and quick stuff like station ids and other radio jingles. Amadeus worked well. I never did mess around much in Garage band. I found it to be rather complicated. But that was years ago.
