VoiceOver Performance

VoiceOver reads all page elements.

Button Labeling

All buttons are clearly labeled.

Usability

The app is fully accessible with VoiceOver and is easy to navigate and use.

Other Comments

The market for a Voice to Text app is getting quite crowded. This is a decent app for doing so. So as for Voice Assistant and VoiceTexter.

I still highly recommend the VoiceTexter myself. It provides a lot more in the way of features. You certainly get the best bang for your buck with VoiceTexter. So take at a look at that first if I were you.

If you are looking for a decent FREE Voice to Text dictation. I would suggest taking a good look at VoiceTexting.

#1 I love this app!

Submitted by Chris Hallsworth on 18 March, 2012 - 07:37.

I love this app! Purchased it today from the UK app store. It's 69p. Does what Siri would do with the difference that it's compatible with all iOS devices, at least those with a built in microphone like the iPhone 4, which is what I am running this app on now. I was able to not only dictate text accurately; I was also able to send it. The beauty with this app over say Vlingo is that you can specify who to send the sms or iMessage to and review the text before sending. My only gripe is I wish it would integrate with the official Facebook app. It's just so time consuming to log into your Facebook account each time a new app like this one wants to use it. Twitter isn't a problem though as it integrates with the official Twitter app so far as I can see. I do however have a question. How exactly do I get this app to insert punctuation during dictation? Anyway, hope you find these comments useful.

Basically, you just say outloud what you want. For example, "period", "question mark", "exclamation mark" as you talk. So say a sentence and end it with a "period" as a word. This will place a period at the end of your sentence.

Hope this helps you.

#4 Great app worth the 0.99 cents.

Submitted by Carrie Schaffer on 18 March, 2012 - 16:14.

HI I purchased this app yesterday and was very impressed with it's response time and it seems to get most things correct. It is worth the current price. It says that it is %50 off right now. I think this will return to $1.99 after a while. I have three apps that I think work well in different ways Vocul for dictating texts, Voice to apps for also dictating texts, but for also dictating tweets and emails. and the speak to it assistant app for asking questions and making phone calls with your voice. They are all great apps. These can work in conjunction with Serie if someone has an Iphone 4S.

#6 it was me, giving feedbacks

Submitted by talksina on 23 March, 2012 - 06:52.

it was me, giving feedbacks for the unlabeled buttons, and I am happy they fixed!
Now I just suggested them, to control when the beep is deactivated or not.
That is:
"if voiceover is running, tell the app to have acoustic signal activated by default. otherwise, let checkbox deactivated"
I think it would be a good compromise
Of course, I do not feel it's annoying for an iDevice power-user to click a button and activate a checkbox. But there are many newbies who would stay upset to notice beep is no longer there and do not know how to set it up again! :)

#8 Hope this helps...

That is a very good question. This will depends on what app that you are wanting to dictate for?

First to do of course is to dictate to the Voice Dictation.

Once this has been achieved. The Voice Dictation app will pop up a set of menus to select from.

You can either pick the following:
Edit Text
Email
SMS and iMessage
Facebook
Twitter
Applications

Now remember under the Applications option. This will bring up additional set of Applications that may be installed on your device that Voice Dictation supports.

If none of these options is the application you want to send your Voice Dictation to then select the Copy option.

Now this has been put in to the clipboard memory of your device.

We are now ready to go in to your app. So go in to the app that you want to paste this

Now be sure that you are in the Text box. From here. I just double tap a single finger and hold. You should hear a ding and gives you a list of things you can do. One of these options is the Paste. Select the Paste and yes it needs to be in the Edit mode.

Now that should do it.

I hope this helped you out?!

Feel free to ask any more questions if you need help.

#9 I uninstalled it

Submitted by otrlibrary on 22 May, 2012 - 10:07.

Maybe this will be fixed down the road but I finally got sick of this app reporting new items when ever I touched the icon.
Nothing I did while in the app seemed to get rid of that message.
Maybe there were adds or something but I don't like apps that try to get me to open them by putting new item messages in to the app name.
Come on now, what new item could or should you have in an app that is supposed to be for voice dictation?
Email or a news reader fine but you expect to have something new associated with them.
Static apps such as this one should have no reason at all to keep annoying the user with "new items".

Really like this app and haven't experienced any of the problems mentioned in the last post. However, I was wondering how you specify the recipient of a text or IMessage? Cheers.
