Live the life of a hobo with Hobo Simulator for iOS

Member of the AppleVis Editorial Team

In this podcast, Abby takes us through Hobo Simulator on her iPad. Hobo Simulator is a game which sees you start out as somebody living on the streets with no job, with the aim of collecting coins, gaining popularity and trying to stay alive and improve your life.

Note this game is also available on iPhone, but the app layout is slightly different. To access the unlabelled menu buttons which Abby refers to, you must first double-tap and hold on the left side of the screen, then drag your finger right to open a slide-out menu containing these buttons. Or with VoiceOver turned off, simply swipe right . On the iPad, these buttons are always on screen.

Nice podcast. It was funny how the game made you upset. lol. I have to download the game again and play. The reason why you're probably dieing so soon is because you're taking long to revisit the previous screens like the food and health. you have to keep eating as much as possible from the trash and keep taking pills so you could stay alive. If I find out anything else I will let you know.

Hello all. Just a question regarding switching screens on the iPhone (i note on the podcast that this seems fairly doable on the iPad, which i don’t have). I have tried the instructions given - a double-tap and hold on the left side of the screen, the phone makes the usual noise, then i drag (rather than swipe) right. Nothing happens - i am simply stuck in the food/happiness screen. I have tried this with the phone set to headings and vertical navigation with no success. Am i missing something? Any tips to let me out of this same screen would be much appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

Hi all, based on the podcast, I decided to give this game a try. The problem is, I can't find any of the unlabeled buttons that are mentioned in the podcast. Help?

I definittely will try this game. What are the notifications actually used for?

For those who can't find the unlabeled buttons, turn voice over off then swipe right once then turn it back on and you will find it. you have to keep doing that when you want to access the different screens.

Hi, Not with my version, the unlabeled buttons are all there, just like they're in Abby's podcast! Notifications don't do much, at least not that I can see.
