How do you put the Apple Watch screen to sleep?

watchOS and Apple Watch Apps

Hi all:
I just got my 38 MM apple watch sport yesterday. So far, I'm loving it! However, this is the question I have.
In his excellent series of podcasts, David Woodbridge states you can put the Apple Watch screen to sleep just by covering the screen with a hand. No matter how many different ways I try to do this, I can't get it to work. Is there a trick to it? Am I misunderstanding David's instructions in the podcasts?
Thanks in advance!
-John

Hi. Just put the palm of your hand (and not your fingers) down over the watch face. That should do it.

Flat Palm

This took me a few days to figure out as well. Put your flat palm on the screen. Don't cup it, don't worry about hurting the watch, just put the palm of your hand right against the screen.
