using a bluetooth keyboard with the apple tv 4

I am attempting to do the following using a Bluetooth keyboard on the apple tv 4th generation. I may be missing something here. I have two problems. Here they are:

1. When I search for and enter an album in apple music, I can’t seem to get back to the main music screen where the tabs are. The only way I have found to do this is to use the apple remote. There doesn’t seem to be a menu or back function on the keyboard that I have found.

2. When I do a search, my entry doesn’t seem to be getting in correctly even though the response from the keyboard is pretty snappy and I hear each letter echoed back to me. This seems to be happening more on the home screen’s search than in apple music. Any help would be greatly appreciated, or a direction to any podcast or blog concerning keyboard use.

Hey,

I had the same questions. I found this:

https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT202670

Which seems to suggest that the magic keyboard can control volume, a home button and a few other bits and pieces. I tried this on my logitech k11 but to no avail. I'm not sure if it is because the f keys are already assigned.

I have also noticed, one can turn off voiceover by hitting escape three times in quick succession, but one cannot turn it on the same way. Could someone confirm this please?

bluetooth keyboard behavior on apple tv 4

I can confirm the turning off of voiceover and inability to get it back on. I bought the Logitech keys to go on the recommendations of the apple specialist the tech I was in contact consulted. From the apple tv 4 book by Jonathan Mosen, I got that the commands available were a subset of the commands available in ios. As I said, I get good key echo when I enter into the keyboard from the Bluetooth keyboard but the entry doesn't seem to be correct when I am done.
