Problems navigating the App Store on my fourth-generation Apple TV

tvOS and Apple TV Apps

While I have both a Gen3-and-4, lately in an App Store
in Gen4, useing a Gen3 remote, I cannot hit enter any
more on catagories or highlighted items. I use a Gen3
remote, as I cannot manage the touchScreen remote.
Is something broken in an App store? I notice
more-and-more, items ar slowly becoming less-and-less
useable with an older remote. Obviously if I cannot use
an App Store, then essentially I would not be
able to grab any more news channels when they showup.
Thanks so much in advance for any guiuidance or if
there are ways of selecting an earlier versions of Apps
