Getting Started With First Apple Tv?

By Zoe Victoria, 29 June, 2022

tvOS and Apple TV Apps

I just got my first Apple TV (4k) and would like to learn how to use it with voiceover. Can anyone please recommend me a good resource to learn, because this site doesn't have one for some reason (why doesn't it have one?) Thank you in advance.

Apple Finally has a Decent Guide here

Start with this, https://support.apple.com/guide/tv/use-voiceover-atvbfa4ff6cd/tvos Beyond this, I'll say to what extent apps follow best practices for accessibility varies a lot. Using Voice Over on Apple TV does take some learning since you are frequently navigating in an up, down, left, and right spacial way rather than what you may be used to from left and right swiping on an iPhone, which is more analogous to tabbing through a webpage. If you read the info above though and give it a try, I'm sure you'll figure it out! Good luck!

double tap?

I too got a apple tv 4k and I don't get something as far as doubletapping with one finger on the touchpad. When i'm in VoiceOver help, in exploration and I double tap, it says, one finger doubletap, activate. However when, say, I try to doubletap anyware else, nothing happens. I have to resort to clicking the centre button. Do I have to enable the double tap to make it work? I'm confused. If someone could help me with this, i'd appreciate it a lot.

You don't double-tap

Double-tapping with one finger is not a thing on Apple TV. You press the select button. IF you're using the newest remote, that means the center part of the navigation circle and with the older remotes you press down on the touch pad area until it clicks. I recommend reading the info I posted above from Apple's support page.

I did go to the guide you posted and read aeverything in it, but I find it odd that the double tap and tripple tap with one finger where included. Thanks for the clarification though.
