Strange VoiceOver behaviour on my iPhone 6S

Other Apple Chat

For a while now I discovered that VoiceOver increase and then decrease in volume when I interact with my iPhone 6S running IOS 10.3.3. When I open apps like Mail and Facebook I encounter that the TTS speech gets louder and when I close apps again there is a decrease in the speech volume. It happens with all the voices I use like Tessa, Oliver and Ava Enhance. I do not experience any such problems when listening to music and audio books and videos. I turned off the phone and back on again and also tried rebooting by holding the Home- and Sleep/wake buttons for ten seconds, but no luck. Does anyone here encounter the same situation?

Hi. This is kind of a long shot, but you might play around with the audio ducking feature VoiceOver has, it can do odd things at times. Check to see if it's turned on currently and if it is, turn it off and see if you have the same type of behavior in both mail and Facebook. You can go into your rhotor settings and enable or disable it there. By all accounts the volume *should* stay the same at all times. Let us know what happens!

Hey BlackCat,

I sometimes have a similar problem with my iPhone 6s when opening Apps with SIRI.
For Example, on occasion after saying "Hey SIRI, Open InsertRandomAppName" , the VO Volume will change to the default SIRI volume for a short while. This tends to be quite noticeable, as VO is usually set quite low and SIRI much louder. This usually self clears after a short while though....

Hello again
Thank you very much for your replies. Much appreciated. Weather Audio Ducking is turned on or off unfortunately does not solve the problem. Under settings, general, accessibility and under the heading "Hearing" I found an option: "Mono Audio." I turned it on. Now this is very interesting, but the problem is solved. For now at least.
