The state of innovation

Hi all, I'm writing a paper for class on the innovation of technology. My goal is to show that ever since the first iPhone came out in 2007 the mainstream media and people wanting to know the next best thing have stifled any companies chances of innovating ever again. I'd like to get some feedback regarding this issue. With the new iPad mini do you think Apple innovated at all? if so, how? If you already own an iPad 2 how do you feel that the iPad mini has the same resolution screen? If you were waiting to upgrade to an iPad 3, like myself how do you feel about Apple's decision to kick the iPad 3rd gen. out the door? Are you mad at this decision or are you ok with buying a smaller device? What are your thoughts on tech blogs that are dedicated to rumors from any company? Do you feel that these sites are necessary? if so, why or why not? As rumor mills churn and people spread rumors do you think this companies like Apple, Microsoft, Google, Humanware, GW Micro, HIMS-inc. etc. are more reluctant to innovate and just make products evolutionary not revolutionary? Why or why not? How does the decisions companies make about innovation effect your buying decision? if at all. In your opinion what could be done to help companies innovate more? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Don't just stick to Apple and IOS expand beyond that towards AT companies as well. Thanks, Aaron Linson

Huh?

First of all, the iPhone came out in 2007 not 2003. Second, why would anyone want an iPad 3? The iPad 4 is definitely better and the iPad mini is better if you want a device with iPad 3 specs at a lower price.

Please reread the questionnaire, your response wasn't helpful. I want people's thought provoking ideas and opinions on the subject not some mac mac's bias, unhelpful, and non specific answers.

Were you just trying to cut him down? Where did you read 2003? He said, "My goal is to show that ever since the first iPhone came out in 2007 the mainstream media and people wanting to know the next best thing have stifled any companies chances of innovating ever again. While I own only an iphone, I don't think the companies stopped inovating, I just think that Apple had set the bar high. I think what people need to focus on is price. I myself haven't got the iphone 5 1 because I don't have an upgrade, and 2 it's not worth ditching my 4s just yet

Agree and stifling innovation

I agree with the previous poster about the bar being set high. It is not always easy to determine innovation from evolution and they can go hand in hand. Now, if you want to focus on stifling innovation, I think a far more productive place to look is at all the patent wars in Silacone Valley. I won't list names here but you should be able to find plenty. Not to mention patent trolls--companies who's whole existence seems to be to try to elicit settlements instead of providing any real value. Good luck with the paper.

It did say 2003 in the post before, posts can be editted after submission. And why would anyone be angry about the iPad 3 being "kicked out the door" when the iPad 4 is so much better? As far as the iPad mini goes, it is not innovative at all, it's just a smaller device with lower specs. If it weren't for the cellular connected iPad minis I'd tell people to buy an iPod touch instead.
