Hello all,
Can I use JAWS with VMWare or Parallels without losing a user licence each time I move to it? Or do I have to use Boot Camp to avoid losing user licences?
Thanks for you help

Hello, What do you mean by "moving"? Each VM can retain an ILM license as long as you keep the VM. If you plan to create and destroy many VMs, then a dongle is a better solution.

To make things a little clearer, here is some more info. I am about to purchase a MacBook Pro and plan to run Windows with JAWS and other screen reader software to help with my work.

I have read else where that I would lose one of my three user licences with JAWS each time I go to use Windows with VM Ware or Parallels and I would have to use Boot Camp to avoid this problem

Does any one know if I can use JAWS with Windows with VM Ware or Parallels or would I need to use Boot Camp to avoid losing licences and the use of JAWS?

Parallels is not accessible.

Thanks to those who have responded. However it still doesn't answer my question, can I use VMware for Windows and JAWS without losing a licence each time, or do I have to use Boot Camp?

Hi:
You would have to use up a key if you created a virtual machine but you would not have to if you backed up your virtual machine by copying the virtual machine file. That's the beauty with virtual machines. If you break your virtual machine, you can copy the backup copy into the directory where VMWare Fusion looks for it.

Another way that licenses break is if any hardware configurations change so be careful if you are going to change any hardware.

Thank you so very much, just to check that I understand what you've said:

Step 1 is set up a virtual machine with windows with all the memory and other Settings First
Step 2 install JAWS
Step 3 change absolutely nothing of the original settings for the virtual machine
This should all leave my license for jaws intact..
One final question that may sound a bit silly if I plug-in a USB to use in the virtual machine this won't change anything for the license will it?
Thank you very much again

I know that changes to the physical hardware of your computer will mess up your virtual machine and I think changing certain settings to the virtual machine might affect it but I haven't tested this out extensively. That's why I recommend to keep your settings the same. USB devices will not affect your license. Changing key commands for the machine and adding virtual drives will not mess up the license as well.

Hi.

Here's a suggestion, why not use NVDA? It's just as capable as Jaws and you don't have to worry about stupid activation keys. Just my thoughts.

True but my work has paid for jaws. I plan to use NVDA and window eyes as backup
Cheers

Hello,
I am an AT trainer and am new to VMware. Is there a training or website on how to use VMware with JAWS that anyone would recommend? Would an ISO with the screen reader included be the appropriate way to create a virtual machine when using JAWS?

Thanks...
