Using Rules in Mac Mail

macOS and Mac Apps

Hi there,
I'm pretty experienced with the Apple echosystem, and I've been using Mail for almost my entire Mac career. Something I'm trying to figure out though, is how to apply rules to messages in my inbox, so that I can better organize my stuff. I have rules set up so that a particular subject, sender, or newsletter gets thrown into a separate mailbox, to keep my inbox organized. But what I would like to know is if there's a way in the rules to make sure that a message doesn't get moved unless I mark it as read, reply to it, or handle it in any other similar way. Basically, I don't want the message to go anywhere until after I've dealt with it. Is this possible to do?
Thanks,
Rich
