Unable to update to OS X 10.10.4

macOS and Mac Apps

Hello,

For some reason, when I try to update to the latest version of OS X, I go to the app store and it shows the update, when I click update all or install all available software updates it gives me the standard restart notification with the 60 second countdown and the buttons to restart my computer now or later. When I either click restart or just let the timer run down, it then brings a message up saying "Available updates have changed, click view details to view the changes". When I click view details, it just takes me back to the same update page in the app store. There isn't any more details anywhere or another download going on. There is still a button to install, but doing this brings the same "available software updates have change" message.

Rebooting my computer hasn't helped. Any suggestions on how I can get it to update? I'm using a 2012 Macbook Air with OS X 10.10.3.

Thanks.

Hi Callum. This update was a real pain in the ass for me as well. Here's a link to an article that should help you fix your problem. You will have to use terminal commands, but it works! :-) http://osxdaily.com/2015/07/01/fix-frozen-app-store-updates-and-high-softwareupdated-cpu/ feel free to contact me if you need further assistance. Have a good one.

You can also download and install the update manually from this link. https://support.apple.com/downloads

Thanks guys, I'll have a play around with both suggestions when I have time. For the manual installer, would I just download the normal OS X 10.10.4 file or the combo update?

If you're running 10.10.3,

If you're running 10.10.3, download the normal one.

Hi,

I've managed to update it now. Thanks for your suggestions, the Terminal command worked straight away.
