Trouble navigating XML file after Safari update

When I read books I've downloaded from Bookshare, I mostly read by line, using the cursor keys. After the latest update, though, I've run into a problem I cannot figure out. I go to the point in the book I was reading, using the find function, hit the down arrow, and it reads the first heading.
I've tried navigating to the point in other ways, but it's the same thing. I've looked and looked and looked at the VO settings, but can't determine what's going on. Also, using the cursor keys to navigate is the same as ever on the Web.
(I read the XML file on Bookshare books.) If anyone could help with this, I'd really appreciate it, as I was really enjoying the book I'd been reading.
Thanks so much.
Howard
