Simple Audio Editing

By Larry Thacker Jr., 6 April, 2016

I upload MP3 files from a digital recorder and tweak them before posting as podcasts for our church. I downloaded Audacity and have used it for that purpose, but I find the way it handles the files cumbersome. It should have assumed that I wanted to save the MP3 file back at the same quality it was loaded, and the dialog for adding the tag info isn't really accessible. My editing needs are very basic. Is there a better choice? I don't mind paying for it. I've seen the posts regarding Amadeus and that looks like a good option. I'd just like to know if it or something else will let me open the file, do simple editing, and save it back in the same form without having to jump through hoops. I do want to be able to easily edit the tag info as well. For the time being I've gone back to the Windows machine where I have GoldWave.

Amadeus pro will let you edit tags and save in the same format you imported it in. I have used this now for 6 years to edit my podcast.

hope that helps.

Thank you

I went ahead and bought the program. Being new to Mac conventions it took me a little while to figure out how to do things, but I did it, and it was much easier. The only thing I still haven't discovered is how to move quickly through the track. In Goldwave I could jump by large chunks, or go to the end and jump back one chunk to listen and find the point at which I wanted to cut it. I haven't found a way to do that in Amadeus.

Thanks for the confirmation. This will do all that I need and much more.

Moving through tracks efficiently

If you hit command G to open up a dialog that will allow you to type in a time signature to jump to. You can use this to jump around through a track. Hit command I to open the info window, which will show you how long the file is. Also you can hit tab to jump to the beginning of the track. You can also use markers to move through tracks.
