reaper osara and sws

macOS and Mac Apps

Hi, I've downloaded all three of these to my MacBook Pro. I'm pretty sure Reaper is downloaded successfully, as it opens fine. I'm also sure SWS is installed because it's showing in the Reaper menus. I followed the instructions for downloading and installing Osara, but the keymap doesn't seem to have changed in Reaper. It's looks just as it did before I installed Osara.
I installed Reaper, then SWS, then Osara. Can anyone think what the problem might be.
Thanks,
Kate

I'm sorry, I'm sure your issue is something I should know, but nothing is coming to mind. You should subscribe to the Reapers without Peepers mailing list and ask there. You should get a lot of knowledgeable people, ready to help.

Osara

Hi Kate,
Osara can run on both Windows and Mac but only the Windows version has full capability. The MAc version is very experimental.

Hi,

It does say "experimental", but there are people using it to a far greater extent than I need to, so I'm sure that what I want to do is possible. I've solved the initial issue, for interest, the problem was that my computer wasn't navigating between tracks and items because I had quicknav enabled.

Now, however, I'm up against the fact that I'm on a laptop, so the keys I need, home end page up/down etc don't exist, or at least, I need to learn the alternatives.

More importantly, my arrow keys aren't performing the scrubbing action as Garth's are in the tutorials, anyone have an idea why this might be happening?

Best, and thanks all,

Kate

Can't help with the lack of keys, but

The nice thing about Reaper and Osara is you can assign most keyboard commands to a key or combination of your choice. Osara has its own keymap, but if there's a key you don't like, just go into the action list (Under the actions menu) and type a search or navigate to the desired action. Then you can bind - or rebind - a key to that action.

You say your scrubbing isn't working? What do you mean? Is it scrubbing at all? Jumping to a different item, doing nothing?

Hi,
It does move along, but rather than play any sound, it makes a beeping noise and reports the percentage point within the beat I am on. When Garth scrubs on his super useful tutorials, you can here audio feedback from the recording as he moves through it. I achieved this in the end by turning voiceover off while scrubbing. I also altered the report status setting in Osara.
Thanks,
Kate
