Need Help Please, New iMac with Mountain Lion

macOS and Mac Apps
I have just received a new iMac with Mountain Lion for my work computer and am very excited but need some help and info. My school has switched to apple this year so I have been using Zoomtext and a Calrity Flexmate CCTV connceted to the PC and monitor. I have used an iPhone and iPad for a couple of years and am comfortable with voice over on those products. I am getting support special education/IT on initial setup and instalation. A couple of questions: Any suggestions for running PC compatible zoomtext and clarity on the iMac? Ideas for a new user with RP setting up zoom and display features? Ideas for using gestures and other ios fesatures built into Mountain Lion? Thanks in advance Corey

PC programs

Hi, if you want to run PC programs like ZoomText, you will probably have to do it under the Windows environment using VMware. They just came out with an update that allows it to run on Mountain Lion. Otherwise, I would just use the built-in magnifier on the Mac. Go to Universal Access in the Settings area and you should be able to figure out what works for you when it comes to zoom and alternate colors.

Bootcamp is another option. This lets you set up the mac so you can boot up either Mac OS or Windows when the machine first starts. The advantage is that there is no virtual machine using up half of your ram and some programs run more smoothly (or so I've heard). The disadvantage is that you have to shut down one OS to get into the other, whereas a virtual machine runs like an app, letting you switch into and out of Windows like any other Mac app.
