Mac Os Sierra voiceover and login problem

Ahoy there.

I am really hoping someone can help me out with this, and its really strange I haven't heard of a similar issue from anyone else on here as its kinda major.

I have VO set as to start on login, the user login is set to show list of username and passwords, yet since I have upgraded to Sierra on the login screen, all Voiceover reads is voiceover on, username. no matter what key I press after that I will here nothing out of VO, and it appears as if having Voiceover on gives you a field to type in username and a field to input password, not like the lists in previous versions. the only 2 instences when voiceover says anything is
1. if you press enter on the username field, or enter anywhere all it'll say and keep at it is username.
2. when you turn off voiceover and turn it on with cmd f5, it'll say voiceover on,and voiceover off respectively.

If I turn off voice over though, a list of users appears from what I have been told by a friend and I can press enter on one to write in the password and such.
This makes starting up a mac amd loging in on my own quite difficult, and honestly quite an horrible experience as even windows doesn't have this issue, you can at least get it to speak on login just fine. ug.
Could anyone tell me how to fix this?
Thanks.

You can restore the previous Voiceover login functionality by turning off filevault in security and privacy preferences.

Thanks T Dog, that finally fixed it.
Now I can login without help of other people or it lagging when entering passwords.
cheers.

Hi,
I've actually heard some tech guys say to never ever use filevault. They don't like it at all, and neither do I. Tried using it once and will never do it again. Just keep it turned off!

Mine is the same. I type my user name, then hit tab.
Next the password followed by the enter key. Once you are loged in you can log on as another user. The previous post is correct if you don't want vault.
