Hello all, I am writing for clearing my doubt due to my inability to find the correct way of doing this. So I am in finder and manage to navigate to a particular folder. But now if I don't want to open the folder but just compress it to zip file then how do I do it.
I know that pressing command + O opens the folder. I also know that using VO + shift + m opens the context menu from which I should be able to choose compress. But when I am on a folder, I try to press VO + shift + m and nothing happens. Right now I have to go to the file menu and then down till compress. I am using macbook m3 which I just purchased 15 days back. So it has sequoa 15.4 installed.

Keyboard Focus-Specific
The VoiceOver command to show the context menu for something only works on the element that has VoiceOver focus (I.E. what is currently selected by VoiceOver), so even though you might be using your arrow keys to navigate your files because the file pain has keyboard focus, it might not have VoiceOver focus. Try manually navigating the VoiceOver cursor to the list view element that contains the files and folders. You won't need to drill any deeper then that. Then try bringing up the context menu again.
Additionally (provided that the mouse cursor is set to follow the VoiceOver cursor as set in VoiceOver Utility) you can also tap or click the trackpad with two fingers which is how sighted people would bring up the context menu.
So which is a better approach?
So if I choose to let mouse follow the voiceover cursor, are there any advantages or disadvantages to that? I feel personally that this would be a better option since I do work with my sighted coligues and this seems to help me explain things. But i want to know if there are any potential pitfalls or downsides to this approach?
