Resetting VoiceOver is done via the VoiceOver Utility Control+OPtion+F8 under the File menu, you have 3 options: Reset basic VoiceOver preferences, Reset custom VoiceOver preferences, and Reset all VoiceOver preferences. .

Hi David

today, in 2016, macOS Sierra, I can´t see that this works.
I´m new to VoiceOver and I´m trying to help a good friend of mine who is blind to switch to a Mac.

In doing so I messed up VoiceOver pretty much in my own account and I need to reset it.

Any suggestions?

Greetings from Switzerland, Ronald

Hi! In VoiceOver preferences go to apple menu, and in side the file menu you will find restore VoiceOver preferances.

Had to do that the other day, thinking it'd reset my Braille display input keys back to their defaults, but it didn't work. Also, the reset Braille display input keys option is dimmed. Any help? Running Sierra and using a Focus 40 Blue connected via USB on a mid 2012 MBP.
